His dedication to his wing and its individual pilots is unrivaled in my experience: He began his tour of duty as Wing Commander shortly after I assumed command of the Battlegroups and set to work immediately to improve the Challenge - then at a mere 25 pilots. Several months of steadfast devotion to his post brought numbers on the Challenge to nearly 50 pilots, and activity increased a thousandfold. His sterling leadership has won the Challenge three consecutive TCCOM's Own awards, the title of TCBG Flagship, and has created an environment truly unique to the Challenge, where hard work, great dedication, and, most importantly, fun are the order of the day. Beyond his many accomplishments, Coranel has worked on various side projects with me for little or no compensation. Among those, he gathered a complete list of all TCBG commanders, wing commanders, commodores, and battlegroup commanders since 1999 (organized chronologically and by unit). Even more importantly, he was my righthand man in the development of a special TCBG RP competition that involved a very complex series of events designed around a story arc designed by the two of us. Coranel has been a constant success since he first assumed command of his wing, and without him I can honestly say that the TCBG would not be the dominant battlegroup today - in fact, I think it's safe to say that were it not for Coranel, the Relentless would not be the only closed TCBG ship by now. I've already awarded him everything within my power, but none of it can adequately reflect his worth, nor his immesurable impact on the terrific state of the Challenge upon his departure. Cor has worked more diligently and consistently than any other flag officer I have ever known, and since he was appointed Wing Commander, the Challenge has grown from around 25 pilots to a current high of 51, nearly all of them active! The number of missions flown monthly in Wing X has also dramatically increased to the point where, in recent months, the Challenge alone has outflown entire battlegroups. Coranel has been the most steady and reliable officer in the BGs since I became BGCOM, and much of the remarkable progress this battlegroup has made in the past few months is due to his tireless efforts. I have served as a flag on many ships, most of the times as a COM, so I know a good flag when I see one. Cor is a great one. He has an understanding of the ship and how it works that can only come with serious time spent working with it and living on it. He has been an invaluable assistance in what has become the ressurection of the Challenge, and I do not believe we'd be sitting at the 40 pilots we are now (compared to the 22 back in February) if it hadn't been for his assistance. His style of command fits me perfectly, and in a short time we have been able to form a team unit that I believe has been one of the best on the Challenge in a long time. I go to him with everything relating to the ship and he does as well, and there isn't a decision that has made about the Challenge that hasn't come from our collective minds. And I'm quite the talker, so to be one who not only puts up with my constant chatter but also responds to it, helps mold it and provides ideas of his own reflects someone with not just enormous patience, but someone who can listen to an idea and see better how to implement and make it happen. His insight on the Challenge has helped to increase activity dramatically, and has helped leading to such smart CMDR choices as Daniel Bonini and Dirty Vader, who have had great success. The Challenge, in years, has not had very many good WCs. As I said above, Cor is a great one. He will be eligble for Colonel in May and he will recieve it, but in the meantime, he deserves something for all the work that has helped bring the Challenge where it is now, and I submit this request for a SS for him.
