-Roughly four and a half months into his Tie Corps career, Jack was injured while fighting a fire in one of the Warrior's hangar bays. About half an hour into the firefighting operation Jack fell from a hydraulic platform after an explosion destroyed its supports. Though he was far enough from the blast to avoid being completely incinerated, he suffered severe burns to his lower legs. After several surgeries he was able to leave the medical bay, but had to remain on light duty until his burns finished healing. He then served as a flight engineer while regaining the strength in his legs. Fifteen months after being injured he returned to Sin Squadron as a missile boat pilot.

Tragedies in life:

-Was best friends with a girl named Sasha Warwick growing up. Despite being the same age he was more like an older brother to her as she was very sheltered by her wealthy parents. After finishing basic training Wynand returned to Aurora Prime to visit Sasha, only to learn that she had been forced into an arranged marriage which ultimately resulted in her death.
Note: Sasha’s spouse, a man named Doug, was not convicted of the murder but was later arrested during a raid on the set of “The Octogonâ€, a pornographic movie he’d been filming. The raid was conducted after it was found that Doug was not paying the appropriate taxes on his movie studio, and for not filing the appropriate paperwork to shoot pornographic content. He was being transported on board the ISDII Warrior when he was found choked to death in the brig. When questioned, his cellmate simply claimed Doug had been murdered by "robot aliens" and refused to say anything further.
He was ruled out as a suspect after security footage showed Doug grabbing his own throat without any visible assailant. The investigation has since been closed.
When asked, Jack says he feels closure from knowing Doug is dead.
