Additional comments: Argyle is becoming more and more active, at least in his own way. He is currently without a copy of TIE, but Badlan has told me he will
supply Argyle with one soon. Regardless, Argyle has been a regular participant in the Trivia competition.
He has also participated in the ECR competition.
Argyle responds promptly when I request it of him, and I am told he stays in close contact with his FL. I feel Argyle is doing what he can considering his current platform-less situation.
Recommendation: ISM Recommended by: Mairin Astoris | | | | 11/11/2001 | Bronze Star of the Empire From Wing IX CMDR (former SPEAR CMDR)
SUBJECT: Award of Bronze Star to CM Argyle Ironfist (PIN 4227)
This officer has served with Spear Squadron, Wing IX, since I assumed
command in February of 2001. I have watched this officer grow from a
marginally active Flight Member to a Flight Leader with distinct Commander
potential. He served as the Executive Officer of Spear from the June until I
was promoted to Wing IX Commander.
In RL I am a First Sergeant in the National Guard, and my unit was called up
both to deal with forest fires and as a result of the Sept. 11 attacks. In
both instances CM Ironfist rose to the challenge. He filled in for me on the
mailing list, answered FM questions, and maintained a cheerful disposition
in the face of his own RL troubles. Nothing required him to do this; he did
it because of his own sense of duty. His dedication to the Corps, his Wing,
and his Squadron never faltered. During the Battlegroups Flagship
Competition, he submitted to all phases he was able to, and encouraged his
flight members to do the same. I credit his leadership with the turnaround
in LT Owen's performance.
As Spear Squadron's top pilot, crack motivator, and dedicated professional,
CM Ironfist has earned the Bronze Star through the most noble means -
devotion and dedication to his unit and top-notch performance of his duty.
Additional Notes from COM: In the time I have served alongside Argyle Ironfist I have indeed witness his selfless actions toward his squadron's well being and morale. Such is his oustanding service to his squadron in a MEANINGFUL way that it continues to uphold the finest tradtions of this organization as well as provide a consistant oustanding level of service to the squadron that he is a member of and thus this ship. It is by this recommendation that I wish to show CM Ironfist that his efforts are indeed deeply appreciated and are valued by myself and this organization as a whole. Commander's Comments: Ironfist continues to be the top officer in the squadron, with no exceptions. I continue to be impressed with this officer's level of activity and, more importantly, his dedication to his squadron. He, alone among the officers currently serving with this squadron, has continued to fly missions and battles. His flight was the only one that managed 100% participation for Phase I of the BGC, and he's done a fine job of bringing LT Owen's activity back to acceptable levels. I would challenge him to continue his work with Owen, but that's about it. He also continues to maintain the squadron web page, in line with his position as Supply Officer, and has created a message board as well. I've challenged him to complete SM/II, in line with Spear's guidelines for successful completion of a tour as XO. Once he does this, he will be invited to continue on as XO. To date there has been no officer in the squadron who could adequately perform the duties of that position. He continues to entertain some doubts about his command ability, and at some point during the coming month I may have him serve as ACO of Spear for a week or so to give him some experience in that area.
Recommendations: I feel that his continuing high performance deserves the PC, in accordance with B:1 of the Relentless Standing Orders. If nothing else, this would recognize his outstanding recruiting drive in the Reserves. He's done a stellar job as my XO. Next month he should be eligible for the BS, and I intend to recommend him for this decoration at that time. I do plan on having him serve as ACO as soon as he completes SM/II. This will be done with little prior warning to him, but ample warning to the WC and Commodore, and come in the form of an exercise.
COM Comments: I feel I can add nothing further to his CMDR's glowing comments and recommendation.
COM Recommendations: I concur with the award of a PC.

Commander's Comments: Ironfist continues to be the top officer in the squadron, with no exceptions. There was one other who flew more missions, but his commitment to the squadron didn't even come close to that of my XO. In a system that measures activity and commitment based on missions flown, he may not stack up against some other officers in the wing. But I submit that competence and skill are not measured by game play alone. Ironfist is a true asset to this squadron, as his record continues to prove. I would like to see him take a more active hand in the development of his flight members, but that is a small quibble and should not detract from his accomplishments with the squadron.
Recommendations: Although Ironfist was promoted last month, I still feel that his continuing high performance deserves the PC. If nothing else, this would recognize his outstanding recruiting drive in the Reserves. He's done a stellar job as my XO.
Recommended by: Dan Malaktos | | | | 07/26/2001 | Commendation of Bravery From SPEAR CMDR: He's shown more than enough drive and piloting ability (and a possible high score on the WCO mission) to deserve the CoB.
NOTE from WC: This pilot has completed a total on 11 battles and 13 FREE Missions for a total of 71 missions flown.
