Tek's father, Victor Selkirk was a down on his luck "merchant" who worked "aquiring" and selling starfighter parts in the Corellian system. Most of the parts were Imperial, from delicate targeting computers to laser cannons and the occaisonal load of concussion missiles. One day at a spaceport at Selonia, Victor met a young woman named Elisha. She ran into him trying to elude the Corporate Sector Authority, who wanted her for the theft of a small freighter. The two joined forces and continued Victor's work as a "merchant." Tek was born soon after.

Tek grew from a small boy into a man around his father's lucrative business. One day the family had the chance to "aquire" a TIE simulator and sell it to the Alliance for a significant profit. While on route to the rebel base where they were to deliver the simulator, Tek was busy flying skirmishes and battles in the false TIE cockpit. He quickly became proficient at piloting and had fun doing so.

When Victor's business became noticed by the local Imperial garrison, he had to flee the Corellian system. Taking Elisha and Tek with him, he fled to Aurora Prime, about which he had heard rumors that a belevolent authority existed in power there. Upon arriving, the family was releaved to find out that the rumors were true. The Emperor's Hammer was kind and welcoming to them, and offered Victor a position in the Corporate Division. Tek applied to the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps, eager to prove his skills in TIEs that he had mastered so long ago. Climbing the ranks, Tek was finally invited to join Avenger Squadron, the most prestigous combat unit in the TIE Corps. He is there to this day, also instructing at the Elite Top Gun Academy and acting as the Professor of Advanced Tactics.
