| Commander's notes |
Welcome to another Delta squadron weekly status report. The week that saw a new arrival, the departure of a valued pilot, and the week
where - even if only for a few hours - we were the only full squadron in the fleet...
Welcome to the ISD-II Hammer, SL Simomime. I hope your stay here will be a productive one. And you've
started off on the right foot, already earning yourself a pair of Legion of Combat multiplayer medals! The
paperwork for your promotion to full Lieutenant is on the COM's desk! Welcome to the team!
Next up, a congrats to MAJ John T. Clark who has been named winner of the Where were
you last night fiction competition. Thanks also to Landon and Quincy for their efforts. I had hoped more would participate, but alas.
Maybe next time. The next squadron competition is already lined up. Again a non-flying one, and it will begin on May 1st. All details to
be withheld at this point...
Our Commodore has two flying competitions going. One is a simply "fly most missions" type. It seems it's going to be a race between my SP
points and Landon's MP points. I will do my very best to take down this inaugural competition! There's also a high score competition
going - and so far it's a close race between me and Gyssler, with me winning TIE and XWA both weeks and him winning XvT both weeks.
All in all - it's gonna be a fun two weeks left to see - with any luck at all I might be able to take down both competitions in April :)
There's been some discussion going on on the mailing list about installing the flying games on a 64 bit platform. For those who lost them or
never got them, I sent out the instructions I wrote up ages ago. They seem to be working flawlessly for most of us, but there's been one pilot
I know of who had issues. I wonder why. And with any luck - soon we will be able to fly in Linux as well (keep going, CPT Nutrientman!)
Of course, there's also some bad news this week.
Somehow there always is. Unfortunately, the March MSE ended up on the wrong pile of the COM's desk. Instead
of the "review-immediately" pile it got stuck on the "do-not-review-until-sufficiently-bribed" pile. As such, no word yet on possible awards.
Maybe we should go out and search for this dancing ewok for our COM to expedite matters in our favor.
Also, we have to say goodbye to CPT kronar this week as he has decided to request a transfer to the
M/FRG Phoenix Good luck, sir, and may the odds ever be in our favor. (No, not a typo... - once you leave Delta,
the odds will never again be in *your* favor...).
I have heard very very little from my pilots regarding their participation in other competitions. I know that LCM
Cruise did some graphics work for one, but where's the rest of you guys? There's flying, graphics, and writing competitions
happening, something for everyone! Go and participate folks!
