Weekly Report #2 – Submission date: March 3rd 2013

Introduction

Greetings,

This has been another eventful week regarding command changes. Fleet Admiral Jarek La’an has been selected as the new Strategic Operations Officer, and will be in direct contact with Squadron Commanders for Evaluation processes and day to day operations. FA La’an has had experience in this very position, and was very successful in promoting activity and keeping the fleet going. La’an will have my full support for his tasks, as I know I’ll have his in mine, and I am confident that this partnership will be very productive to the TIE Corps. Congratulations, La’an and welcome aboard, once again.

The other very important change was the selection of the new Gamma Squadron Commander. Colonel Mark Schueler has been chosen for this important task of maintaining Gamma as a top level squadron. We are confident he’ll succeed at that, and even manage to bring new positive things to the squadron. Congratulations, Mark!

With COL Schueler’s promotion to Squadron Commander, Gamma’s Flight 2 Leader position became vacant, but not for long, as the CMDR has quickly chosen MAJ Elwood the Brave, one of the most actives members of the fleet, winner of Ace of the TIE Corps Competition for 2012, to succeed him. Congratulations, Woody!

Delta Squadron’s LT Kyle Kroan has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Congratulations on this great achievement, LCM Kroan, and keep up the good work!

As you are aware, EH.org has lately suffered from high levels of latency. According to the Fleet Commander, this has been caused by issues with the internet service provider. We hope that this situation will be solved in the near future, as it disrupts the fleet’s operations in every level.

Work on the database change has not yet commenced. For that to happen, we must have access to the necessary EH.org subdomains, which are yet to be provided by the EH Command Staff. Once the designated task force has access, work on this project will start with the highest priority. Needless to say, FA La’an will be included in this task force, and assist where possible.

COL Schueler has initiated a campaign to try and get people back in the #tiecorps IRC channel. I totally support this action, and will do whatever I can to assist, even though it’s very unlikely I have the time to be there myself, sadly.

Alpha Squadron was the first to deliver their MSE, in the very first day of the month. Well done, Alpha. Other Squadron CMDRs are to deliver theirs to me and La’an as soon as possible. We’d like to have all MSEs submitted before the fifth day of each month, if possible.

As mentioned by La’an earlier this week, we are hoping to award the Medal of Communication to the people who are eligible. MoCs are an important way to reward one of the most common and important activities in this club, and must not be overlooked. CMDRs, please add justified MoC recommendations for your pilots in your MSEs.

Fleet Wide Competitions

* Ace of the TIE Corps 2013

A TAC sponsored competition; members of the TIE Corps compete with each other for the highest number of missions flown throughout the year. The Ace of the TIE Corps will be awarded the prestigious Iron Star-Platinum Wings, while the runner ups will be awarded the IS-GW, IS-SW and IS-BW.

Conclusion

Apart from the database move being halted, this has been a good week for the TIE Corps, as we shape it into what we wish it becomes. The advent of a new SOO will bring more strength to the TIE Corps Command Staff, and we can expect good things to come out of this new formed CS.
