AD Pete Mitchell sat in his leather desk hover chair staring at the ceiling. 

Pete thought to himself, “This was a good year, but with fewer enemies around the EH territories, there sure hasn’t been much action.”  He was thinking that if things kept up like this, complacency would set in and the elite TIE Corps pilots would lose their edge.

“There must be some fresh new exercises or competitions we could run to hone our skills in the absence of cannon fodder…  So many things to do though.”  Pete looked down at his to do list.  It read:

·        Inspect mothballed ships for project ****************

·        Scout locations for next IS.

·        Tour IU

“Well maybe if we…or…” his intercom clicked to life, “That might work!  Oh wait…”

“Talking to yourself again, I see…”  It was AD Miles Prower, his fast friend ever since re-joining the fleet a couple years ago.

“Well, I always try to talk with the most interesting people around…  I can’t help that it’s always me!”

“Oh Vader’s Pants!  Just get down to the party, or you’re gonna miss it!”

“Ok, ok, but you’re buying!”

After enjoying the party for a bit, and things started getting out of hand, Pete made his excuses.

“I’ve gotta get some rest so I can get a good jump on the new year’s plans!” 

“Bantha****, that can wait!  Just hang out another couple hours.  We can leave presents in the Kappa Kuarters!” yelled RA Hav Antiel over the music.

“No, I won’t make it another 15 minutes without passing out.  And if I do that sooomeooone” Pete looked over at Miles, “is going to write all over my face, again.  Then I’m gonna have to practice my force choking on that someone, and then, I’ll have to find a new Hammer Commodore to replace that someone!”

Pete stumbled back to his chambers where he laid face down on his bed and passed out.

The next morning Pete got up and stumbled over to his desk to call breakfast in.  He looked down and saw his to-do list.  “Oh, damn it…”

Welcome to the new year!  Get in that TIE and make it a great one!

We start the new year with a new CMDR in Epsilon Squadron!  Congratulations and thank you to GN John T. Clark!  GN Elwood the Brave has swapped roster spots with GN Clark and is now Epsilon’s flight 3 leader. 

We have also gained two new recruits from PLT Daedalus.  Please welcome and congratulate LT Starithm and LT Nova, who have also been recently promoted!

TIE Corps Pilot League - 2018 is now over!  Congratulations to CPT Rando for earning his second IS-PW!  All finalized results below.  Interesting fact: all those that flew over 10 missions got worse in TIE, but got better in both XvT and XWA!  Congrats to COL Earnim Branet for winning Most Improved (or least worse) in TIE and XWA, and CPT Rando for all other annual categories!

There are still Thursday night MP nights going on.  Come join us at 8:30 pm EST, 5:30 PM Pacific!  If someone across either pond wants to do an additional time, let me know, we can arrange something!

I am thinking about what to do for competitions this year, so if you have any ideas or feedback on TCoP or TCPL (or any other of last year’s comps), let me know!

Rules:

This competition is similar to TIE Corps on patrol, but it is handicapped to make it accessible to more pilots.  Every TWO weeks, there will be a free mission from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA) assigned.  Pilots will fly each mission that they choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF email to Pete Mitchell.  If the pilot has earned a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell in case the BSF is not approved in time. 

Each week the pilot with the highest handicap score (expressed as a % of the high score) in each platform will earn 4 points.  The next highest score will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other submissions will earn 1.  If the winning pilot in a platform also beat the high score (without the handicap added), that pilot will earn 5 points for that platform.  It is possible for a pilot to be the only pilot to beat the high score, and not win that platform.  If for example, pilot A got 90% of the high score and has a 25% handicap for a total of 115%, and pilot B got 105% of the existing HS (and earned a new HS) with a handicap of 5% for a total of 110%, Pilot A would win the platform for the week for 4 points and pilot 3 would only earn 3 points. Points will accumulate for the week, month, and year for more awards.

Handicaps will be calculated as follows:

The average score in the platform as a percent of the high scores will be calculated as an average of all scores on that platform since the beginning of the League (avg).  The handicap will be calculated as the difference between the average and 100%.  For example, if a pilot’s average score in TIE is 75% of the HS, his handicap will be 100%-75%=25%.  If a pilot then scored 85,000 pts on a mission with an existing HS of 100,000 points, his handicap score would be 85% + 25% = 110%.

*The first round any pilot flies in any platform will not have a handicap added as the pilot will not have an average.  Therefore, the first round, there are no handicaps, only scratch scores. 

**I reserve the right to create a maximum handicap.  At this point, it is 75%.

IS-GW/SW/BW for 1^st 2^nd and 3^rd most improved averages over the year in each platform (at least 4 participants, must have flown at least 10 missions)

Monthly:

IS-GW/SW/BW for 1^st 2^nd and 3^rd total points for the month (at least 3 participants).

Weekly:

IS-SW/BW for 1^st and 2^nd total points for the week (at least 3 participants).

IS-SW/BW for 1^st and 2^nd in each platform (at least 2 participants).
