The Commander was
pondering his future, 2 weeks left of his 4-month 'tour of duty' and it was
obvious that the Squadron had not 'grown' under his command. It would be easy
to just turn away and return to the ranks as a Flight Member and maybe that
would be for the best, giving someone else the chance of resurrecting this once-famed
Sqn. But maybe that was just taking the easy way-out, maybe he should
continue this endeavor - he would leave it up to the Pilots of FURY to decide...
"Gentlemen, frankly
I can only refer to our performance in the 'Raise the Flag' Competition as appalling.
For 2-weeks everyone had the chance to contribute and I had no comms to suggest
that any of you would be incapacitated and therefore unable to enter in some
way but still NONE of you did. Starting now I will be AWOLing
those of you that cannot find time to contribute something to this Squadron
- we must therefore say "goodbye" at this time to both CM Slawter
Thren & CM Verigos. The rest of you will need to significantly
raise your game!"

Several other Squads are beginning to record activity and many
individuals are flying again as can be attested to by the Pilot
Kill Board. Fury has many talented individuals in it's ranks - let's make
it a great Squadron once more!
As I've mentioned before - ALL of you are expected
to contact me each week with your intended activity or reasons for inactivity.
This seems to be filtering through as I am getting more communications from
you, thank you - but we also need to see more flying.
As mentioned above our very poor showing in the RtF has left
rather a bad taste in the mouth and we are at an all-time-low when it comes
to activity. I'm sure you've all seen the results by now, but if not here's
a quick summary:-
- Out of the 4 ships showing activity the Sub came 3rd, with the ISD
Challenge winning by a country-mile...
- Fury Squadron came rather a lowly 5th out of the 7 Squadrons that participated.
The winners being Tempest, again by a huge margin...
- From the 17 Pilots that took part, I was the only FURY Squadron member,
coming 11th (remembering that I was holidaying in Spain for more than half
of the time!) with 37 points. The winner was LC Zosite Konstyte Styles
with an amazing score of 325...
- In Single Player mode I was 10th out of 15 Pilots with 27 Points, Zos winning
that one too...
- There were no M/P entries...
- The Fiction winner was GN Rancorous with 73 points...
- The Graphics winner was also GN Rancorous with 40 points...
- The IWATS winner was CPT Ard Royber of our very own FLAYER
Sqn with 20 points, I came 2nd with 10 points and have been awarded the IS-SR.
- Our participation rates were low:- ISD Subjugator - 4 out of 22
- 18% and Fury - 1 out of 11 - 9%...
With that abysmal performance it is quite obvious to me that there is something
rather amiss within our Squadron. That and the fact that my 4-month Commanding
tour-of-duty ends in 2 weeks has prompted me to ask whether I should stay
on in this role, or move over and let someone else take the helm.
One positive point - we are now into double-figures Citation-wise with 11
as I flew 3 Battles that we were only 1 Pilot away from acheiving. We have
2 AWOL's pending though, so the situation is fluid at the moment and we will
take-stock again once these are processed.
I am open to all comments and suggestions you may have over the coming 2-weeks
- I feel we need to do something or Fury Squadron may well disappear
completely!
If nothing else, let's try to remember that this club and the TC are all
about having fun - something that seems to be lacking hereabouts at the moment...
