Reviews for XWA-FCHG 3

| | This battle was very disappointing. First of all the plot was ridiculous. I cannot believe that any real person would go along with the plan that says, "To prevent civil war, we have to kill a bunch of our friends because they don't know any better." The whole problem would've been cleared up with simple communication and any officer willing to start shooting buddies rather than try to straighten out a misunderstanding is just plain stupid. Aside from the plot being unfeasible, it was also rather shallow. The missions didn't seem to have much of a point. They didn't flow into the main storyline very well, and were only of average construction and gameplay. Does running a Recon mission in a Gunboat (the slowest fighter we have) make any sense to anybody when we've been flying TIE Avengers for the past three missions? And the final straw: I don't much like it when the mission is FAILED when I COMPLETE the goals and obey orders (It's not a bug, it's made that way on purpose). I shouldn't have to die and read the hints to find out that to complete the mission, I've got to be an unskilled pilot and let my mothership be disabled! There are no radio messages or anything suggesting this is nessecary for a "victory." How this got to be a FCHG battle is beyond me.

| | Wow ... this battle has single-handedly shaken my faith in the ability of non-developers to create XWA missions. First off, my biggest complaint : in missions 2 and 4, you must fly the Skipray Blastboat and Assault Gunboat, respectively. These are craft that CANNOT FIRE LASERS without installing the Science Office's S-Foils patch. This is NOT MENTIONED AT ALL in this battle's documentation. Now people have told me, "But you can just use warheads!". Wrong. You can only use warheads if you set your ammo to infinite ... otherwise, you will never have enough warheads to continue, especially in mission 2. And there are no instructions from the author present to perform either action; that is, downloading the patch or setting ammo to infinite. So what we have here is a situation where a newer pilot could get stuck in this battle, unable to progress further. And just as a technical note ... if you absolutely insist on using a craft that requires a patch to fly, PLEASE give us the option to switch craft and fly something that doesn't require a patch. XWA has about 50 flyable ships, and it's extremely annoying to be forced to fly a ship that requires a patch, when so many others do not. Technical gripes aside, I actually liked the storyline. Sure it had some holes in it, but so do most stories if you really pick them apart. Too bad I could never enjoy the story, since the difficulty settings are WAY off. Flying on hard is next to impossible ... but flying on medium is far too simple. I never tried the easy setting, but I suspect you could just fly right back in the hanger and the mission would beat itself. All things considered, I admire the author's effort and imagination, but this is a battle that needs a lot of work.

| | Typical Roguewing battle, with typical Roguewing missions, typical Roguewing fighter opposition plan, and usual Ghost Squadron protagonism. But fighting T/Ds in a T/A was really cool in mission 5. I would give it a 5, if it wasn't for the already mentioned story flaws and the fact that we got a Dreadnaught with stormtroopers(!) boarding a Comm Station, it's not the proper ship for that.

| | Good missions, though it was a little predictable who the clone was. Also, I really really don't like it when my radar is full of red dots because all the teams are using the same IFF. At least paint the enemies yellow so I can track them on the radar.

| | Not to bad - better use of IFF would made life a bit easier. Mission 5 - could have been handled in a better way. Still fun to fly

| | Good work. Although at least one of the missions had Roguewing's "capships flyin' through each other" trade mark, I never experienced any bugs or difficulties whatsoever. Story was good, although is has some holes (nobody checking who the real Ronin is after he himself mentions there's a clone runnin' about??? :-/, EH craft not recognising other EH craft? What happened to IFF? :-) ...). But heck, that doesn't make the missions any less playable.

| | As usual, there is only one word for a RogueWing battle: STELLAR Keep up the good work, bro. You make some of da bestest battles! Hey...was my dna stolen for cloning too? LOL

| | Very fun battle! Has good dog fighting and a couple of missions where the objectives dynamically change to reflect the situation of the mission.

| | Quite well done, it just seems to me with all this clone stuff would u really be all that trusting of Grand Admiral Ronin if he did that, i mean honestly, i would have called the Stormtroopers and asked for proof at what he said and made sure he wasent the clone. Just my oppion.

| | I though the Story of this mission was good and the battles were chalenging as for the last mission yeah use your head and be you character Nice Job Rogue

| | Differnt type of storyline. As for the confusing objectives in the last mission, they are supposed to be confusing. When you fly it, think like a real pilot who has to make a decision on what orders to follow.

| | Good storyline; the missions are a bit on the easy side I must admit, and the last one has some confusing objectives. Dispite this it is one of the highest quality battles I have played.

| | /me pats RW in the head. Good job

| | Not the best from RW but still an excelent battle by my standards:) I don't know what Striker is talking about(I found some missions hard as heck:P but then again, I suck:P) I would have given it 4 or 5 but teh last mission had unclear orders and I had to wait like 14 mins for them to disable teh Imortal when I had killed every thing in the first 5 mins.:<

| | Not the best one from RogueWing by far, but still enjoyable. Maybe a little too easy for my taste.
